Duties of Announcer :-
2. The matter has been re-examined. The competent authority has decided that the Announcers should be assigned those duties only which have been prescribed in AIR Manual for this category. In no case, Announcers should be asked to do the job which is required to be performed by TREXs/erstwhile Production Assistants etc. Any deviation from the instructions would be viewed seriously.
Copy to:-
1. To write announcements and broadcast them.
2. To play back recordings of music and other programmes while announcing them.
3. To write presentation scripts for special programmes of music, including the selection of records etc.
4. To reply to listeners letters.
5. To fill in the fault reports, log books, etc. for the transmissions in which they are on duty.
6. To take part in features, plays, special audience programmes etc.
7. To read scripts, commentaries, short stories etc., written by staff or outsiders.
8. To help and present programmes for special audiences.
9. Compereing of various categories of programmes.
10.To maintain registers and index relating to the special programmes activity.
11.Any other duties which may be assigned from time to time.

This Directorate has received representations from Akashvani Announcers Associations stating that many AIR Stations are deploying Announcers on the duty of TREXs, erstwhile Production Assistants etc. which do not come under the purview of duties as assigned to the Announcers in accordance with AIR, Manual. This is being done in-spite of Directorate's standing instructions to this effect.
