Prasar Bharati
(India s Public Service Broadcaster)
Directorate General; All India Radio

No. 15/2/2013/PI                                              New Delhi, Dated: 09/04/2013

Sub: Review the performance of casual announcers/compere/anchors and FM Presenters

All AIR stations were directed to review the performance of casual announcers/compere/anchors and FM Presenters vide this Directorate communication of even dated 29/12/2011 and 19/01/2012. Thereafter, in its communication no. 15/2/2010 dt. 22.8.12 the stations were advised that those unsuccessful casuals, who were weeded out from the existing panel or who did not appear for screening, can apply as fresh candidates, subject to their eligibility and after depositing the prescribed fees for auditions.

Directorate has reconsidered the whole issue in its entirety and taken a decision that those casual announcers/comperes/anchors and presenters who could not appear before the screening committee or those who were unsuccessful in the review last time may be given one last opportunity to reappear before the screening committee, for which they will not be charged any fee for audition.

All Station Directors/Programme Heads are hereby directed that while calling all casual/comperes/anchors/FM presenters for re-audition, they should explicitly bring it to their notice that this will be the last opportunity and thereafter under no circumstances, they will be reconsidered for audition.

Station Directors/Programme Heads are advised to reconstitute a new screening committee under their chairmanship which will include One Programme Executive and three outside experts. The Programme Executive and outside experts which were included in the last committee will not be included in the new committee. It is needless to say that only such expert(s) for the local dialects will be included who are recognised authority in that local dialect.

The stations will apprise this Directorate of the action taken and report the progress immediately.

This has the approval of Director General.
