ANNOUNCERS ON THE DUTY OF TREX

No.10/1/97-SVIII/677
GOVERNMENT OF INDIA
DIRECTORATE GENERAL : ALL INDIA RADIO
DATED: 06-05-97
SUBJECT: Allocation of duties to Announcers.
This Directorate has received representations from Akashvani Announcers Associations stating that many AIR Stations are deploying Announcers on the duty of TREXs, erstwhile Production Assistants etc. which do not come under the purview of duties as assigned to the Announcers in accordance with AIR, Manual. This is being done in-spite of Directorate's standing instructions to this effect.
2. The matter has been re-examined. The competent authority has decided that the Announcers should be assigned those duties only which have been prescribed in AIR Manual for this category. In no case, Announcers should be asked to do the job which is required to be performed by TREXs/erstwhile Production Assistants etc. Any deviation from the instructions would be viewed seriously.

Shirish Pujari, Sambalpur....
I appreciate your views about the attitude of some of the employees of AIR towards the Announcers.
I have always tried to raise my voice against it. Even in my own station I have strongly and daringly opposed the idea of writing the log book and recording the phone in programmes which was being imposed upon the ANNOUNCERS. And I won. No officer could take any action against me. We Annoncers are keeping the prestige of AIR. And we must have the courage to safe guard our prestige also yaar !!
